The Upper Hutt Skin Clinic was established in 2010 and is located inside the Upper Hutt Health Centre on Queen Street, just 25 minutes north of New Zealand’s capital city, Wellington.

Meet the Team
Dr Lise Kljakovic
MBChB FRNZCGP Dip Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery, Certificate Dermoscopy, Dip Sports Medicine
Lise is Managing Director and Shareholder of the Upper Hutt Health Centre and is an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor with the Skin Cancer College Australasia. This means that she has successfully completed a high level of training with the College and has proven skills in the diagnosis, treatment and management of skin cancer. Lise’s special interest area is skin cancer diagnosis and management.
Lise lives in Silverstream with her husband and her cat, Billie. She has three grown up children and two grandchildren. Lise loves sport, travel, gardening, good food and good company. Lise is passionate about being a Kiwi and being the best that you can be!
Dr Mike Sim
MBchB, FRNZCGP, Dip Obstetrics, Dip Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery
Mike is a shareholder of the Upper Hutt Health Centre and is an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor with the Skin Cancer College Australasia. This means that he has successfully completed a high level of training with the College and has proven skills in the diagnosis, treatment and management of skin cancer.
Mike grew up in Rotorua and studied at Otago Medical School. He divides his working day between his GP practice, the Upper Hutt Health Centre Skin Clinic and providing medical services at the prison.
In his spare time, Mike enjoys tramping, skiing, keeping fit and touch rugby.
Dr Fred Maes
FRNZCGP, Degree Tropical Medicine, Surgery Certificate Dermoscopy
Fred was born in Poperinge, Belgium and studied medicine at Leuven University (Belgium). He holds an Advanced Masters Degree in General Practice and was awarded FRNZCGP on 1 September 2015.
Fred came to New Zealand in 2007 and enjoys the great outdoors. He is a keen hobby farmer and is married with three young children.
Nurse Rayma Murphy
RN, PG Dip Nursing
Originally from the Central Hawkes Bay, Rayma has a keen interest in skin health promotion and education. Rayma loves working with a great team who are passionate about skin health. A mother of five children and a grandmother of four, Rayma loves all things related to family.
Nurse Diane Maddock
RN
Diane has extensive experience, qualifying as a registered nurse in 1982.
Her enthusiasm for the field of skin health and prevention/treatment of skin cancer arose from her own experience of a young adult family member being diagnosed with a melanoma. Getting great results is what drives Diane’s commitment to working in the Skin Clinic.
In her spare time, Diane loves to spend time with her grandchild.
Nurse Hannah Field
RN
In addition to being a qualified nurse, Hannah has qualifications in Cosmetology and Beauty Therapy. She has many years’ skin health experience, including Appearance Medicine and hospital-based plastics services.
Hannah’s favourite activity outside of work is to spend time with her two kids outdoors (with sun protection of course).
Sue Sharp
Administration and Reception
Sue is the friendly person at our front desk who ensures the Skin Clinic is a great place to visit. She greets our clients and takes care of bookings and other administrative tasks.
In her spare time, Sue loves to travel, particularly to visit her two adult children. She enjoys interior décor projects and gardening.
